BLUG meeting/install fest this Thurs May 1st at BTC

Our next BLUG meeting will be dedicated to helping folks
install their favorite flavor of Linux.
Bring your computer and let the BLUG wizards help you with
your install.
Bring friends, help them crossover from the darkness and into the light!
I’m sure there will be a lot of discussion about LFNW. Come and share
your experiences with us.
It’s this Thursday, May 1st from 6:30pm til 9pm at BTC in ROOM CC201,
on the 2nd floor of BTC’s new Campus Center Building.

“Hands-on Help Time”:
Starting at 6:30pm, 1/2 hour prior to the regular 7pm start time,
BLUG offers hands-on help for anyone with a Linux issue.
Bring your computer and let the BLUG folks give you a hand.

Carl will be presenting on Scribus
Scribus is not a word processor. Total control. Beautiful documents and recent examples.

LFNW DotOrg meeting Thurs, Mar 27th, at RE Sources

This Thursday, Mar 27th, is an extra pre-LFNW planning meeting of
the BLUG/LFNW DotOrg Committee.
Lots of LFNW stuff to discuss.
All those participating in BLUG business and
LFNW planning are encouraged to attend.
We’ll meet from 7pm until 9pm in the library of RE Sources
which is located above the RE Store on 2309 Meridian Street,
Bellingham (access is from the alley via the stairs in back).

James will be presenting the Spark Core, an open-source-ish, hacker-friendly, Arduinio-like, Internet-connected embedded controller, and some of the fun things you can do (including home automation), and some of the pitfalls of the device.

Will share with us what he knows about email privacy,which seems to be timely in light of recent news. Kingsley has administered email servers, used encryption, and foreign hosts.

Presentation: An “old school” gaming rig on a Raspberry Pi device.
“Brian Pate built up an “old school” gaming rig (Nintendo, Sega, Super Nintendo, etc) from his Pi device! And he’ll show you just how much fun he had making it.
