“Presentation”
Desktop freedom, by Carl Symons:
“Carl is a long time KDE user; a KDE advocate and KDE Foundation member.
For several reasons, he installed Gnome and started using it for the first time.
Now a few weeks later, it’s clear that GNOME is a good fit for what is needed.
– Why GNOME now?
– Overview of GNOME/KDE relationship & glimpses behind the scenes
– Loyalty or liberation
– Free and open solutions vs. my project is better than yours
– Compare KDE & GNOME desktop operations
– Advantages and disadvantages of each
GNOME vs KDE is a long-standing and wide-ranging debate, involving technical merit,
project culture, personalities, long term viability. Bring your desktop experiences,
and be prepared for a lively discussion”
Location:
ROOM CC201, on the 2nd floor of BTC’s new Campus Center Building.
Remember this meeting is open to the public, tell your neighbor
and bring a friend!
